The APS Bank has said that it has received a substantial number of entries to their competition “Banking on our Local Heritage,” which has been organised by APS Bank in collaboration with The Malta Photographic Society. It is being held as part of the Bank’s centenary celebration activities and is open until the 25th of September 2010. All entries will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges and the results will be published by the end of October.
The bank has put up a prize fund of over €2500 for the best fifty entries, with a €500 cash prize going to the overall winner, €275 will go to the second placed and €150 for the third placed. The top fifty entries will all receive part of the prize money. Moreover, these entries will then form part of a photo exhibition which is being planned for the beginning of next year.
Patrick Aquilina, Marketing Manager of APS Bank, said that the number of submissions received so far is very encouraging. “For the past hundred years, the Bank has been committed to serve the community it operates in and to support Malta’s heritage. We designed the competition to be in line with these core values and therefore we are inviting the participating photographers to show off Malta’s riches,” he explained.
Entries should depict Maltese heritage in any of its different facets, including natural heritage – fauna and flora, geology, landscape and landforms and other natural resources; cultural heritage – tradition, customs and practices inherited from the Maltese’s ancestors; local architecture and traditional craftsmanship.
More information about the competition may be obtained from the Bank’s website www.apsbank.com or directly from the Malta Photographic Society.
